Top Choir Kent 2016 Competition Rules
There are just ten rules for the Top Choir Kent 2016 competition:

Rule One
Entry is open to amateur choirs of all ages from anywhere within the County of Kent. This includes the administrative County of Kent, the Medway Council area and the following areas within London Boroughs which have the word “Kent” included in their postal address, e.g. Beckenham, Bexley, Bromley, Chislehurst, Crayford, Erith, Orpington, Penge and Sidcup.-
Definition of Amateur: Although the choir may charge for musical engagements, no individual member of the choir shall be paid on a regular basis for their musical services or be professional singers in their own right. It is acceptable for the conductor/director to receive remuneration.

Rule Two
Choirs should comprise a minimum of 12 singers. -
Rule Three
A piano is available for accompaniment. Other instruments are restricted to those which can be carried on and off stage (see FAQ 19). Amplification of voices is not permitted. -
Rule Four
The musical items should be of 10 minutes' duration. -
Rule Five
Choirs are asked to submit two copies of their entry on audio CD by the deadline of 30th November 2015, with copies of the sheet music for each item showing copyright details of composer, arranger and publisher. -
Rule Six
The programme may include any style of music with at least one item from outside the British Isles. -
Rule Seven
It is a condition of entry that choirs give permission for their recording to be broadcast. -
Rule Eight
(a) Choirs selected by the judging panel from the recorded entries will be notified by 31st December 2015 and invited to the Final on Saturday 19th March 2016. Choirs invited to the Final will be asked to perform the items in their original entry.
(b) Finalist Choirs will be asked to confirm their actual numbers and preferred biog/description for the printed programme by mid-February (see FAQ 20) -
Rule Nine

The winning choir will not be eligible to compete in the following year's competition but will instead be invited back to perform in a guest capacity.

Rule Ten
The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
